During one of our surface intervals, we visited the Turtle Farm. Venezuela has supported a project that is trying to increase the turtle population in the Caribbean. The Hawksbill Turtle is one of the most endangered. These slow moving creatures do not reproduce until they are around 20 to 25 years of age. Because they are so approachable, they are easy targets for hunters.
