Belize is famous for its many "soft corals." Gorgonians are "soft corals." The common Sea Fan is one of many varieties in the Gorgonian family. All Gorgonians have a central skeleton from which the stems and branches protrude. This picture is of a Wide-mesh Sea Fan. Fans have a mesheed pattern of branches that do not always unite or interconnect.
